Far Eastern New Century Corp. (FENC) was granted a First Prize in CSR Award in the Manufacturing Industries Category by Global Views Magazine. Chairman of FENC, Douglas Tung Hsu, received the award from Vice President Den-yih Wu, who was the honorable guest at the event. The CSR award by Global Views Magazine has been one of the most prestigious honors in Taiwan’s CSR field.
Mr. Hsu observed that this award is not only an honor but also a responsibility to the company. He said that FENC has been devoted to the wellbeing for its clients, employees, investors and the society as a whole for a long time, though without much publicity. However, the company has realized in recent years that only through full scale communication and proactive change can we better fulfill our duty in CSR.
In the year of 2015, FENC has achieved the following positive outcomes to better serve the society: risk evaluation of climate change and adopt of adjusted policy, complete checkup of all manufacturing plants on Green House Gas emission, use of green power and planning on solar energy equipment, establishment of smart energy data system, better communication with external stakeholders and formulation of CSR rules for suppliers etc.
FENC is dedicated to R&D. It launched the world’s first Bio-PET bottle last year, which debut in World Expo in Milan, Italy. Its smart clothing solution DynaFeed has won ISPO Gold prize earlier this year. Besides, in order to deal with water shortage issue worldwide, it has increased water recycle from all manufacturing plants to over 30%. It also organized a Water Exhibition for the public with its affiliated companies in Far Eastern Group to arouse public awareness of protecting the environment. In the future, FENC will continue to exert its corporate duty to cooperate with its stakeholders to engage in creating a better new century.
