Far Eastern New Century Corporation (hereafter “FENC”) has developed a new PET chemical recycling process named TopGreen® ChemCycle, and the product made by this new technology will be adopted by the largest beverage maker in Japan, Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan Inc.(hereafter “CCBJI”). The two companies have agreed to explore and expand opportunities to leverage this new PET recycling process on a commercial scale.

CCBJI has decided to use FENC’s TopGreen® ChemCycle PET resins for a commercial scale production of its products after autumn this year.

FENC’s TopGreen® ChemCycle process can chemically converts used PET bottles and other polyester wastes (regardless of colors and printing inks) into rPTA (recycled purified terephthalic acid); rPTA can be used as one of the main raw materials of PET. FENC uses these raw materials to manufacture “ChemCycle Resins,” which are chemically recycled PET resins whose quality equal that of virgin PET resin. FENC has invested in PET recycling for more than 30 years and is fully committed to recycle PET both mechanically and chemically as one of the company’s sustainability efforts to create a better Earth.

CCBJI has formulated a set of goals to create shared value for stakeholders through important ESG initiatives that are an integral part of its mid-term strategic business plan announced in August 2019. This new project with FENC is part of CCBJI’s 2030 Packaging Vision for a World Without Waste that the Coca-Cola system aspires to by 2030.
